January-The Month in Review

Cooking Matters has been on the move and making things happen!  Here’s just a short highlight of some of the great work being done by the three-gal staff at Cooking Matters, Solid Ground:

Training and site visit for Yakama Nation Tribal Nutrition Program a satellite partner created last spring.  All-day training in Toppenish, WA for 16 enthusiastic volunteers.  Created our first new Satellite Partner of 2013, the Mount Adams School District!

Cleaning up our act:   Thanks to the generous donation of cooking equipment from restaurant supplier, Bargreen Ellingson, Cooking Matters now has the ability to more easily offer simultaneous classes and serve more low-income people in Greater Seattle.
A huge thanks to you, our volunteers:
Our awesome volunteers came out in full force to help us carry out five courses in January at the following sites:  Jubilee Women’s Shelter, Broadview, SeaMar, Renton Housing Authority and Atlantic Street Center-Rainier Beach.
