If you have ever set foot in an Operation Frontline classroom, you know that our program works because of our volunteers. Every class has its own style and flair, thanks to the special team of volunteers that teaches each course. We also know that each volunteer puts ample time, energy, and creativity into their classes to make them dynamic, entertaining, and delicious!
On Sunday, February 8, Operation Frontline celebrated its awesome volunteers with an Indian feast at Program Supervisor Claire’s house. Traditional Indian dishes from Bengal Tiger was supplemented by yellow daal, homemade chai tea, and mango lassi made by Ame
ricorps staff member Emily, who recently studied abroad in Nepal.
Guests included long-time volunteers, who have been part of OFL for years and have numerous classes under their belts, alongside new volunteers just waiting to get into their first class! Volunteers mixed and mingled, shared ideas and memories from their time in the program, and got to know each other and the OFL staff.
Staff member Maia asserts that no party is complete without a raffle, so 3 lucky attendees took home surprise gifts: a mandoline, a Share Our Strength travel mug, and some OFL kitchenwear—an apron and baseball cap. On their way out the door, each guest was invited to take a potted herb and a package of ingredients to make chai at home..
Enjoy the goodies, and thank you to ALL of our volunteers, whether you were able to make it on Sunday or not! We look forward to seeing you in the classroom soon!
