Welcome!

Happy fall! The Cooking Matters team would like to introduce our newest member, Ebony! Ebony is a Pathways AmeriCorps member and will soon be coordinating her own classes. You will see her shadowing classes for a little while before she strikes out on her own. If you see her, be sure to say hi and welcome her!

Ebony says:

Hello, my name is Ebony McClelland. I am twenty years old and currently working for AmeriCorps. My site is Solid Ground’s Cooking Matters. I’m so excited I got the chance to work here and I can’t wait to learn more about nutrition and healthy eating. I’m so happy and anxious to see how this year is going to be.

Ebony!

Things are quite busy here at the Cooking Matters office. Classes are in full swing so we are not spending at much time in the office. Emily and I just returned from Baltimore, MD where we attended Conference of Leaders. We learned more about Share Our Strength, the vision for ending childhood hunger by 2015 and how to improve our Cooking Matters courses.

Rachel Duboff was inducted into the Cooking Matters hall of fame during the conference. To become a hall of fame volunteer, you must do at least 15 class series. Rachel has done an outstanding job as a chef volunteer and we greatly appreciate all that she has done for the program! We hope to have many more dedicated volunteers join the hall of fame!
